Once again the Carnival faces societal challenges beyond its control. The organisers have shown tremendous leadership in navigating a path that unites the public and the authorities in the continuity of the celebrations. We must remember that Caribbean carnival is about the abolition of slavery and the uniting of the people. The Notting Hill carnival is also about uniting the London community born out of adversity of the "Windrush" generation.
